What is a Nee Doh?

A Nee Doh is a squeezable stress ball made by Schylling. Instead of the springy foam of a classic stress ball, it is filled with a thick, doughy gel — so it squashes completely flat under your thumb and then creeps slowly back into a ball. That slow return is the whole point: it keeps your hands busy for longer than a foam squeeze.

People use them for the same three reasons: to take the edge off stress, to keep restless hands occupied while concentrating, and because squishing one is genuinely pleasant. They are small enough for a pocket or a desk drawer, and they need no batteries, screens or setup.

What's inside a Nee Doh

A stretchy outer skin wrapped around a non-toxic, dough-like gel. Nothing rattles, nothing leaks in normal use, and there is no liquid centre that sloshes. Variants change the filling's feel rather than its nature: the Jelly Squish is wetter and wobblier, the Fuzz Ball adds a fuzzy outer coat, and the Nice Cube moulds the same gel into a cube so the corners collapse first.

Do not cut one open. The gel is not harmful, but it will not go back in, and the toy is finished the moment the skin splits.

The main Nee Doh types

• Nice Cube — cube-shaped, firmest squish, the usual first Nee Doh.
• Dream Drop — softer and droopier, with the slowest return.
• Fuzz Ball — fuzzy coating over the standard core, for people who like texture as well as squish.
• Jelly Squish — jelly-like filling that wobbles when shaken.
• Teenie Nee Doh — pocket minis, normally sold in multipacks.

How to clean a Nee Doh

Lukewarm water and a drop of mild washing-up soap, rubbed gently with your fingers, then rinsed and patted dry. Let it air dry completely before squeezing it again. Never put one in the dishwasher or washing machine, and keep it away from alcohol gel, solvents and direct heat — those degrade the skin and cause the splits that end a Nee Doh's life.

If a Nee Doh picks up lint or hair (Fuzz Balls especially), a quick rinse and a dry cloth usually restores it. Store it in a drawer or pouch rather than loose in a bag.
